Welcome

Glen Holme Poll Merino Stud aims to breed Merino types of sheep with a balance between free-growing, bold white and stylish wool with a fertile animal who have good carcase traits (fat and muscle), with necessary structural soundness and good temperaments, whilst being paddock raised in a commercially relevant manner.

Our family has been breeding woolled sheep since 1946 – Merinos, Poll Merinos and Dohnes. Our Poll Merino Flock was re-registered in 2022 and maintains some of our original Poll Merino bloodlines.

We remain committed to the improvement of the Australian sheep industry by providing non-mulesed, paddock raised genetics for sale, with conscious thought to the full grown size of animals for all who will continue to handle them in the future.

Through our involvement in breeding Dohne Merino sheep, we have learned the importance of pedigree recording, record keeping, data collection and ASBVs.

We continually assess the animals through each stage from birth, marking, weaning, crutching and shearing to ensure structural soundness and stability of type.

On our property we run Poll Merino and Dohne stud sheep, a commercial sheep flock as well as a broadacre cropping program. With many things happening on our farm, we require easy care sheep that can look after themselves at times.

All our sheep, including our rams for sale, are paddock reared to ensure they can perform in commercial farming situations.
